Your AI agent is lying to you. The data is the problem.
- ZoomInfo launched GTM.AI on June 1, 2026 — a headless context layer that feeds verified B2B data (100M companies, 500M contacts) into Claude, HubSpot Breeze, Salesforce Agentforce, and any MCP-compatible agent via a single connection.
- The underlying problem it's solving: roughly 70% of B2B contact data goes stale every year, which means agents acting on your CRM without a live data source are confidently working from wrong information.
- McKinsey's 2026 B2B Pulse Survey shows companies that have fully implemented gen AI are twice as likely to be growing market share by 10%+ — but most teams are still running pilots, not production systems with governed, verified data.
B2B contact data decays at roughly 70% per year. That's the number ZoomInfo anchored its entire GTM.AI launch around this week. And once you sit with it for a minute, the implications for every AI workflow you're currently running are uncomfortable.
On June 2, 2026, ZoomInfo made GTM.AI generally available — a headless GTM context layer that pipes its verified B2B intelligence directly into the tools you're already using: Claude, ChatGPT, HubSpot Breeze, Salesforce Agentforce, Microsoft Copilot, Outreach AI, Gong. One MCP connection, one data source of truth, available everywhere an agent runs.
The name is a mouthful. The strategic move underneath it is straightforward.
What ZoomInfo is actually betting on
Most of the coverage this week has focused on the product features. 100 million companies, 500 million contacts, billions of buying signals, all queryable by any MCP-compatible agent in real time. Ask for VP-level marketing leads at fast-growing fintechs that recently moved to Snowflake and have a champion who just changed jobs — get back a verified, signal-ranked list in one call.
But the more interesting bet is structural. ZoomInfo isn't trying to build another chatbot interface. They're repositioning from a data vendor you log into to a data utility that agents call. The competitive surface isn't the UI. It's the verified data layer underneath every agent that claims it can prospect, enrich, and act.
On June 5, ZoomInfo also published a native connector in the Claude connector directory — meaning ZoomInfo customers can now pull verified company, contact, and buying-signal data directly into Claude conversations without leaving the chat. Same governance plane, same permissions, applied wherever the agent runs.
The problem nobody's talking about in their agent demos
Here's what I keep coming back to when I look at my own Clay enrichment runs and n8n research agents. They are only as accurate as the data they're calling. And most of the time, the data they're calling is whatever happens to be sitting in the CRM — which may not have been touched in six months.
ZoomInfo built their launch narrative around the 70% annual staleness figure, and they're right to. An agent that confidently fires off a personalised outreach sequence based on a contact who changed roles eight months ago isn't helping anyone. It's just producing wrong outputs faster and at scale.
McKinsey's 2026 Global B2B Pulse Survey, published this week from nearly 4,000 decision-makers across 13 countries, makes the same underlying argument from the other direction. Companies growing market share by more than 10% year-on-year are twice as likely to have fully implemented gen AI across commercial workflows. The divide isn't between who's using AI and who isn't. It's between who's running AI on verified, governed data infrastructure and who's still running it on vibes and stale spreadsheet exports.
The gotcha in the GTM.AI story
There's a real tension here that the launch materials gloss over.
ZoomInfo cut full-year revenue guidance and roughly 20% of its workforce in May. That's a vendor stability question marketing leaders should be asking before they build a core data pipeline dependency on a single provider. The product direction is sound. The vendor trajectory is worth watching.
More broadly: MCP standardisation is still early. The promise of "one connection, verified data everywhere" depends on every agent in your stack actually implementing MCP correctly, which is not a given today. I've run enough n8n flows that broke on a schema update to know that the plumbing is always messier than the launch video.
The real takeaway from this week isn't "go buy ZoomInfo GTM.AI." It's that the entire conversation has shifted. The agent is no longer the hard part. Providing verified, fresh, governed data to the agent — that's the hard part. And most marketing teams haven't even started that conversation internally, let alone with their CFO.
If you're running any kind of AI prospecting, enrichment, or research workflow today, the first question worth asking is: what data is that agent actually calling, and when was it last verified?
What does the data layer underneath your agents look like right now — live and governed, or six-month-old CRM exports?

I help B2B marketing teams ship AI automations that actually save time — without becoming a tools graveyard. If this raised something you're trying to figure out, I do 15-min intro calls. No pitch, just a real conversation.
